Footballers at higher risk of death due to neurodegenerative disease

Former professional footballers have an approximately three-and-a-half times higher rate of death due to neurodegenerative disease than expected, according to a study funded by the Professional Footballers’ Association Charity and Football Association. The study provides the first major insights into lifelong health outcomes in former professional footballers.
