£50,000 in compensation for cosmetic surgery negligence

A British woman who was left scarred following substandard surgery and medical care from an overseas surgeon has been awarded £50,000 in compensation. She had travelled to Poland for cosmetic surgery, but the surgery and aftercare were very poor and the surgeon wrongly carried out a breast reduction and left her with horrific scarring and deformed breasts. Slater and Gordon issued court proceedings in the jurisdiction of England and Wales against the cosmetic holiday organiser, surgeon, clinic and their insurers. Judgment was obtained against the company who organised the trip, along with the surgeon. When the defendant seemed unable to produce the originals of certain key documents in the litigation, a settlement was agreed out of court.
