CAYMAN ISLANDS REGISTERED 33 NEW INSURERS IN 2019

The Cayman Islands issued 33 new insurer licenses in 2019, raising total registrations to 764 by the end of the year, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority reported. Of the total, 646 were Class B, C or D insurers. Of those, almost two-thirds were captives. The Cayman industry’s premiums for the year totalled more than $18bn, up $2.6bn from 2018 and up nearly $10bn from 2017.
