Viewpoint: London must confront challenge of climate risk disclosure

Climate change is certain to have a major impact on many commercial sectors and the specific businesses within them. Insurers, as the carriers of other companies’ risks, are doubly imperilled. Emerging recommendations for the disclosure of the potential impacts of climate change on firms’ financial results are destined to become requirements from 2021 in some jurisdictions, but the double impact of climate change on the insurance sector makes disclosure more difficult for them.
