The Manchester Arena bombings
R (on the application of EA (By Her Litigation Friend, MA) and BT v Chairman of the Manchester Arena Inquiry [2020] EWHC 2053 (Admin)
The Manchester Arena bombings are currently the subject of an important public inquiry arising from a terrorist attack in
May 2017 when Salman Abedi detonated a bomb filled with shrapnel at the Manchester Arena, just as a concert given by Ariana
Grande was ending. The event was attended by thousands of children and young people, and 22 innocent people were killed in
the explosion, as was the bomber himself. Many other people were seriously injured, and over the past few weeks the Inquiry
has been hearing harrowing details of this tragedy from the families of those who died and from some of the injured.
