BROWN & BROWN CONSOLIDATES WHOLESALE UNITS AS BRIDGE SPECIALTY

US broking group Brown & Brown has consolidated its 25 wholesale units under the Bridge Specialty Group brand. With a combined 1,578 employees, the wholesale operations saw their revenues grow 14% to $352.8m in 2020 through their placement of more than $3bn in excess & surplus lines premiums with retail agencies, including Brown & Brown’s retail locations. The Bridge Specialty operation has 45 locations in 21 US states and the UK, where Decus Insurance Brokers operates from offices in London. Meanwhile, Canadian broker Westland Insurance Group has broadened its footprint by acquiring AGI Insurance, a Saskatoon-based intermediary offering residential, motor, travel, farm and commercial insurance products and services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Westland now has more than 160 locations across Canada.
