Funeral plan consultation envisages cold-calling ban and other major changes

An estimated 60 funeral plan providers,up to 3,000 intermediaries and other interested parties are being asked to givefeedback on draft FCA rules and guidance that will cover the sector from 29July 2022. Firms will be asked to apply for authorisation in September andOctober this year, after which time application fees might increase. Andcriminal penalties will be among the sanctions possible for any unauthorisedfirms selling these plans after the start date.
