Slave labour deal approved

The German government has approved a £3.3bn fund for compensation of slave labourers during the Second World War. This will lead to average payouts of £5,000 to about 240,000 survivors. This comes after pressure from Jewish organisations in the US where many German firms have heavy financial involvement.
