Ammonia leak
An ammonia leak was reported to have killed one seafarer and critically injured three others on LPG carrier Hamburg DW (IMO
9014420) while it was off Malaysia and had 25 crew on board. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said the incident
occurred in international waters off Port Klang. Selangor MMEA director, Captain Mohammad Rosli Kassim, told local media that
a preliminary investigation “found that the ship’s piping system was leaking, which in turn caused ammonia gas to be exposed
.The two injured seafarers were affected by the fumes and reportedly suffered burns”.
