3.1 Certification and verification

The starting point when considering the question whether or not a Company was, or was not, ISM compliant would be to check whether the certification required was valid and in date. A copy of SOLAS, Chapter IX is included as Appendix 1 to this book but, for ease of reference, we set out below the text of Regulation 4 – Certification:
