Shopworkers facing increasing violence and abuse

There was 7 per cent rise in incidents of violence and abuse against shopworkers in 2019/2020, with 455 incidents of violence or abuse each day. This is according to the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) 2021 Retail Crime Survey, which highlights the scale of violence and abuse faced by retail staff. And yet only 6 per cent of incidents of violence and abuse result in prosecution.
