NOAA ISSUES TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR GULF COAST

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for the Gulf Coast, Louisiana to Florida. The storm system, known as ‘potential tropical cyclone three’ is forecast to bring heavy rain and flash flooding to the Central Gulf coast, moving into the southern Appalachians over the weekend. The NHC warned of a threat of storm surge along the Gulf Coast, including Intracoastal City, New Orleans, Lake Maurepas and Lake Pontchartrain. Tropical storm conditions are expected to first reach the coast on Friday, bringing the threat of tornadoes to coastal Louisiana today, and southern portions of Louisiana, Mississippi and southwest Alabama into Saturday.
