KESSLER NARROWLY WINS SHAREHOLDER VOTE ON PAY
Scor’s chairman and chief executive, Denis Kessler, narrowly won a shareholder vote to approve his 2020 remuneration at the reinsurer’s annual general meeting (AGM). Some 56% of shareholders voted in favour of Kessler’s compensation package, with 44% voting against it. Kessler’s relatively high remuneration package compared to peers in the sector has long been a source of frustration among shareholders. His new compensation package for 2021 also met with strong shareholder opposition, with only 63% of shareholders giving their approval. Scor’s AGM also saw shareholders vote to approve the separation of the roles of chairman and chief executive. Laurent Rousseau, previously deputy chief executive of Scor Global P&C, has been appointed to succeed Kessler as chief executive. Some 99.5% of voting shareholders approved his appointment.
