Scottish Government brings in law to protect shopworkers from violence

A new law to protect shopworkers from violence, threats and abuse has been announced by the Scottish Government and will come into force on 24 August 2021. The legislation was supported by MSPs after retail trade union Usdaw’s long-running campaign led to the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Bill which was successfully steered through the Scottish Parliament by Daniel Johnson MSP.
