TV reporter sues police

Undercover reporter Donal MacIntyre is taking action against the Chief Constable of Kent, with financial backing from the BBC. He seeks compensation for libel by Kent Police, who said he had caused them to waste considerable time investigating his claims of abuse against a care home. The police decided there was little evidence on which to pursue a criminal action against the establishment, but – following a TV programme – Medway social services department closed it down.
