Actuaries sidelined

Institute of Actuaries president Peter Clark has criticised the insurance industry for downgrading the role of actuaries. He said: ‘The appointed actuary is often the only person within a life company whose task it is to protect that company’s customers’ interests … the one person who must, on occasion, say no to senior management.’
