Online dispute resolution

11.1 Introduction

There remains one area for this book to cover which completes the review of digital developments in construction law. The aim is to return to the starting point of the discussion on the construction industry and its limitations, in particular, the high incidence of disputes. Disputes are the first thing that spring to mind when the subject of construction law is addressed. Dispute in construction is essentially viewed as an inevitability under current practice and, as such, the contract is considered to be the rules of engagement. Lord Donaldson summarised the point thus:
