'Risk model change is essential to making climate risk insurable'

Market pricing for catastrophe risk is highly retrospective. Short-term profitability and the balance of capital supply and demand far outweigh any long-term view of price adequacy. When losses happen, prices increase. When unexpectedly large losses happen, eroding capital, prices go up even more. When no losses happen, prices drop.
