The Supply Chain – A Chain of Liability
Constructing a building is a complex assembly process where the eventual user is often remote from the commissioning owner and contractor. The contractor is usually supplying managerial expertise and employing specialists to carry out elements of work. In turn, these specialists may sublet work further. The materials and components that make up the fabric of the building are supplied by manufacturers directly or through builder's merchants. Some materials are traditionally supplied directly to the contractor, whilst others will be supplied to specialists.
