SWISS RE BETS ON GROWTH THROUGH PORTFOLIO OPTIMISATION AND RATE RISES

Swiss Re will look to capitalise on opportunities in underexplored segments to continue growth. After posting strong year-to-date results, Swiss Re’s group chief financial officer, John Dacey, said the reinsurer will grow by capitalising on price increases across the market. Speaking at an analysts’ call after posting the results for the nine months of this year, Dacey noted Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo), the group’s commercial insurance arm, is beginning to benefit from recent changes applied to its portfolio. “We did this massive restructuring of a portfolio, getting rid of a third of the risk in 2019 that’s continued on and finally has expired as a drag on growth for CorSo in the second half of 2021,” Dacey said. Without wanting to make specific predictions, it would not be surprising if CorSo entered a “double-digit growth mode”, Dacey added.
