Overview

13.1 Almost a quarter century after the introduction of statutory construction adjudication in the United Kingdom, and about 20 years after that concept was first adopted in Australia and New Zealand, Ontario became the first Canadian jurisdiction to adopt adjudication as part of its Construction Act on October 1, 2019. This chapter will present the adjudication model as introduced in Ontario and will attempt to situate that scheme internationally.
