FS Cairo (Nile Plaza) LLC v Brownlie [2021] UKSC 45

The Supreme Court, in a case involving complex procedural issues following a claim for damages arising from an accident in Egypt, has dealt with the question whether it is necessary for direct damage to have been suffered in the jurisdiction in order for a claim to come within the tort jurisdictional gateway in the Civil Procedure Rules. The Supreme Court provided guidance on pleading and proving foreign law in this case in which the tragic events leading to the claim occurred more than 10 years earlier on a family holiday.
