Arbitration – Practice – Costs

In London Arbitration 21/21 ((2021) 1092 LMLN 1) the arbitrator determined a dispute relating to the operation of the Volga-Don Shipping Canal (VDSC). The arbitrator found that the owners’ claims succeeded in the sum of US$73,414.78, and that the charterers’ counterclaims failed. The arbitrator further awarded that the charterers should bear their own costs in the reference, together with those of the owners, and that the charterers should pay for the cost of the award in the sum of £17,500.
