Justification of discriminatory redundancy

Where redundancy policy conditions could be met by all male, but only 78% of female, employees (in this case teachers), the employer must be able to justify the policy itself, not merely the rule required to meet economic circumstances. In this case service of over five years was not taken into account as it had been subject to a series of short-term contracts.
