MIB levy
A survey by Direct Line predicts rising premiums, linked to an ever increasing levy paid to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB).
The levy was £39mn in 1991 and has risen to £265mn this year. It is forecast to near £500mn by 2005. This is because of the
estimated 20% of uninsured drivers in the UK – the highest rate in Europe with the possible exception of Greece.
