Standards for insurance accounting

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is considering the introduction of more flexible regime of prudential standards for insurance companies. These are to be based on the concepts of Basel Capital Accord for banks, believed by the FSA to be equally relevant for insurance companies. These would include changes to minimum capital requirements, supervisory review and market discipline.
