Cross-border currents – EPPO identifies €5.4 billion in EU fraud losses in its first seven months

TheEuropean Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has launched its first annualreport, saying that by 31 December [2021], it had processed 2,832 crimereports, opened 576 investigations (515 still active that day), identified €5.4 billion in estimated damages to EuropeanUnion (EU) budgets and seized €147.3million from alleged criminals.
