Estoppel attack on pollution exclusion

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled against several insurers (lead defendant Liberty Mutual) on the meaning of a ‘sudden and accidental’ pollution exclusion, overturning a lower court ruling that the words also barred cover for pollution occurring gradually. This is in a claim by appliance maker Sunbeam Corp covering 11 of its polluted sites nationwide.
