Changing EU rules for Turkey and its shipping sector

Caglar Coskunsu, from Cavus & Coskunsu, explores the changing rules from the European Union which will impact the Turkish marine sector

The long-standing relations between Turkey (recently, Türkiye) and the European Union have been on a rollercoaster ride with up and down periods from the very beginning, but particularly since the Helsinki European Council took place in December 1999 where Turkey was officially recognised as a candidate state. EU membership remains one of the most important goals for Turkey.
