Don't get carried away with the hype about artificial intelligence

The peak of the large language model (LLM) hype cycle is here, with the only thing more prolific than articles proclaiming that "the robots are coming!" being the number of LinkedIn influencers inviting you to webinars about their artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions. It's easy to get carried away with this narrative. While it is clear that AI will fundamentally reshape the way business is done, it is far from certain that the current generation of models will be the ones to do it.
