The scope of section 9 of the Arbitration Act 1996

In Republic of Mozambique (acting through its Attorney General) v Privinvest Shipbuilding SAL (Holding) [2023] UKSC 32, [2023] BLR 585, [2023] 2 Lloyd's Rep 587 the Supreme Court provided helpful guidance on the scope of section 9 of the Arbitration Act, in particular in relation to the definition of the "matter" which has been referred to arbitration and which is relied upon by one party to the arbitration agreement in seeking a stay of court proceedings which have been commenced by the other party to the arbitration agreement.
