Recovery of solicitors' costs of attending case management meetings

Hadley v Przybylo [2024] EWCA Civ 250

A recent appeal raised an important issue in personal injury litigation, which is whether or not the cost of a fee earner's attendance at rehabilitation case management meetings is irrecoverable in law as costs in the litigation. The Court of Appeal decided, with some reservations, that in principle, the costs of attending rehabilitation case management meetings by claimants' solicitors are recoverable as costs of an action. However, the court cautioned that claimants' solicitors should not expect to be paid to attend every meeting.
