Contraceptive failure

A group of 63 women, all of whom used the Persona contraceptive device in the late 1990s but became pregnant, have taken action under the Consumer Protection Act to seek £150,000 each in damages from makers Unipath, then a subsidiary of Unilever. The device is based on daily readings of hormones and advice as to ‘safe’ periods.
