Bank of England could face BCCI claims

The Bank of England could face claims from depositors in the defunct Bank of Credit and Commerce (BCCI). The challenge has been launched by liquidator Deloitte & Touche following a favourable ruling in the House of Lords. The action alleges that the reckless conduct of certain senior officials, in continuing to license BCCI despite warnings, amounts to ‘misfeasance in public office’.
