Claims Direct is, in effect, dead. And it has taken the insurance industry a convoluted struggle, along with the law’s delays, to achieve this outcome. Putting aside any dubiety of the steadfast refusal of defendants to pay the costs of successful claimants, court rulings being countered by appeal upon appeal, will the destruction of a leader of the Woolf-required replacement of Legal Aid for personal injury be to the ultimate benefit even of insurers?
