Private patient sues NHS for refund

Tom Aynsley had a collapsed lung and, advised he needed an operation as soon as possible, waited for three weeks. He then spent his savings of £6,000 on private surgery which was carried out the next day by the same specialist who would eventually have performed it under the NHS. He plans to sue the Trafford Healthcare BHS Trust to recoup those costs.
