Causation crucial to building contract claim

Where a claim was made for global loss and expense as a consequence of breach of a construction contract it would fail if any material cause of the global loss was something for which they defender had no legal liability. The logic of such claim demanded that all the defender be liable for all contributory events, otherwise the court would be imposing a liability on the defender that was, in part, not legally his.
