Employer not liable for injury on another’s premises

The claimant suffered injury from a falling barrow when a manhole cover gave way. He was, at the time, working as directed on the premises of the Second Defendant (who admitted a measure of liability). At first instance it was held that, pursuant to common law duty of care, his employer shared liability.
