Mooring lines accidents increasing

Valentin Klivnoy, of Gard, reports that the Club has recently seen several incidents of broken mooring lines as a result of strong wind gusts. Incidents often involve cruise vessels, but other large vessels are at risk

In recent cases of failed mooring lines, most involved wind speeds of more than 80km/h, ie a wind force of 8 or above on the Beaufort scale, and the vessels involved were mainly large cruise vessels. These incidents serve as an important reminder of how important it is to ensure safe mooring operations.
