£15,000 funding for clinical negligence ADR study

Responding to the finding of the Public Accounts Committee that clinical negligence claims take an average of 5 years to conclude and that 8% take 10 years or more, the Legal Services Commission has made the sum of £15,000 available for a pilot study into the possibility of increased alternative dispute resolution (ADR). This will be split between the NHS Litigation Authority, CEDR (Centre for Dispute Resolution) and AVMA (Action for Victims of Medical Accidents).
