Disappearing Andersen

With the expected completion of the takeover of the UK arm of Andersen by Deloitte & Touche the Andersen name will disappear in the UK. Regulatory clearance appears to have taken account of the fact that, whether the takeover approved or not, Andersen’s plight meant that the number of big accounting firms would have reduced to four. Deloitte will acquire all of Andersen’s physical assets, 383 partners and more than 5,000 staff, though some redundancies are expected.
