This book is intended to be a critical resource, primarily to support students undertaking qualification at all stages of maritime training, enhancing and developing their knowledge and understanding of the key issues in the Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Regulations 1997, as subsequently amended by the 2015 Regulations and other legislation. At the time of going to press, the UK Government has proposed new Regulations in the draft Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Regulations 2022, which are intended to implement amendments to the STCW Convention into UK law.
