Background checks for workers with the vulnerable

Due to the ongoing problems of the Criminal Records Bureau background checks on agency nurses and care home staff have been postponed for 21 months. A joint enterprise between private firm Capita and the Home Office, a 100,000 backlog delayed the opening of some schools this summer. An inquiry into the operations of the CRB is in progress.
