Liability Risk and Insurance
Coaches roll
More than ten years ago I was made very aware of the need for passenger seat-belts in coaches. A party of American tourists
left a road I frequently used near Canterbury, mounted an embankment and rolled over. Many of the passengers were killed and
others badly injured, mainly by being flung from the vehicle and then crushed beneath it. The inquest highlighted the advantages
that would have come from seat belts and the insurer, faced with significant payout, probably came to the same conclusion.
