Airline insurance available

Several leading airlines including British Airways, KLM and Virgin Atlantic have succeeded in arranging adequate commercial insurance cover for third-party war and terrorism risk. Led by London-based American International Group with 25% share, followed by AXIS Specialty and Berkshire Hathaway, the programme offers US$1bn per occurrence and US$2bn aggregate, double that on offer anywhere since 11 September 2001. Further, it provides for the kick-in of passenger war risk if the airline’s primary policy is cancelled.
