English nationalism not a protected belief under the Equality Act 2010

A worker’s belief in English nationalism is not a protected belief under the Equality Act 2010, according to the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) in the recent case of Thomas v Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust [2024] EAT 141. The EAT held that a tribunal was right to find that a worker’s belief in English nationalism was not a protected belief under the 2010 Act, according to Browne Jacobson.
