Industry’s A&E reserves decline along with incurred losses: AM Best

Industry loss reserves have decreased for more than a decade as incurred losses have been outpaced by loss payments

The insurance industry’s asbestos and environmental (A&E) reserves continued to decline in 2023 along with incurred losses as its estimated ultimate net A&E losses held steady at around $146bn, according to a report by AM Best.
