Biofuels as a way of decarbonising transport in the EU

Renewable energy plays a fundamental role in addressing environmental challenges. This article introduces several legislative measures aimed at aligning climate, energy, and transport policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by implementing integrated rules across various sectors of the economy, along with the European Commission's common framework for promoting energy from renewable sources in the EU.

The new legal framework established by the revised Renewable Energy Directive (RED) introduces new binding targets for "renewable fuels of non-biological origin" (RFNBO).
