Risk and relationships: the small dry bulk operator's view

The small bulk carrier segment is the backbone of the dry bulk sector and a major contributor to global trade. These workhorses deliver the building blocks of regional economies but are often overlooked by their larger counterparts. Data from Maritime Strategies International indicates that Handysize and Supramax vessels make up 42 per cent of the fleet by deadweight, larger than the share for Panamax or Capesize vessels.
