Importers fear more US tariffs in 2025

Donald Trump's victory in the US Presidential Election has been described as "a step in the wrong direction" for international trade as importers fear another spike in ocean container shipping freight rates. The President-elect has vowed blanket tariffs of up to 20 per cent on all imports into the US and additional tariffs of 60 per cent to 100 per cent on goods from China.
